What if Batman had been released in 2025?
Pascal and Natalie imagine a social media marketing campaign for this cult classic.
They focus on three key elements: nostalgia and the origins of Batman as a comic book character, the movie production and actors, and the music by Prince and Danny Elfman.
Let’s look at Natalie’s ideas:
First, fans will be invited to add the Bat symbol to social posts and create TikTok-style challenges where users can “call in the Batman” potentially turning it into a cultural moment.
She also suggests collaborations with shows like Hot Ones and Comic Con guest appearances, possibly featuring Jack Nicholson’s Joker in character.
Additionally, she envisions street art pop-ups and online tours of famous scenes, such as the Joker and his goons ‘virtually’ vandalising an art gallery, offering a digital walkthrough experience of the exhibit.
Pascal’s ideas build on these tactics with:
Randomised filters where users can choose to be team Batman or team The Joker, retro 8-bit video games where players can play as either character.
How about a partnership with a video editing app company? Allowing users to download video clips and a track from The Batman album by Prince, submit their edited videos, and win prizes.
Another idea is an “I am Batman” Reels competition, where participants say the iconic line in their best Bruce Wayne voice, with the closest to Michael Keaton’s voice winning a “BatBadge.”
Alternatively, a Joker version could involve a lip-sync battle with the line “Winged freak terrorizes…?Wait till they get a load of me!”
And so much more!
Like these ideas made up on the spot:
Developing fake LinkedIn profiles for characters like the Joker to recruit ‘henchmen’ is proposed.
Organising a competition for comic book stores to win a ride in the Batmobile to local premieres is mentioned.
The key takeaways from their discussion are to engage brand ambassadors by giving them enjoyable content, create marketing that makes audiences feel part of a moment, and leverage the power of nostalgia to grow an engagement audience.
What about you? What social media tactics would you use if Batman was released in 2025?
